Enfant, Patrick Vassort dessinait ses rêves pour voyager. Joaillier et gemmologue de formation, Patrick Vassort développe très tôt une technique pointue à travers ses dessins de bijoux pour Hermès, Bréguet, Boucheron, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels... Dès son plus jeune âge, il est fasciné par les lignes épurées d'illustres architectes tels que Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Eero Saarinen ; s’en développera une passion pour l’ergonomie, devenue intrinsèque à sa personne.
As a child, Patrick Vassort drew his dreams to experience travel. As a jeweler and gemologist, Patrick Vassort quickly developed an advanced drawing technique through his jewelry designs for Hermès, Bréguet, Boucheron, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels... From a very young age, he was fascinated by the clean lines of illustrious architects like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Eero Saarinen; from then he developed a passion for ergonomics, which became inherent to him.
Painting wise, the young Patrick Vassort admired artists who mastered the color, transparency and lightness of snow, such as Camille Pissarro and Caspar David Friedrich, but also J. M. W. Turner for his technique and dreamlike landscapes. Two artists, contemporary of his parents, truly marked and influenced Patrick Vassort's painting technique: Bernard Buffet through his spontaneous, instinctive, vital technique, where no palette is needed, the paint is spread from the tubes directly onto the canvas; and the renowned specialist of the “Outrenoir”, Pierre Soulages, for the texture of his monochrome paintings, which Patrick Vassort transposes to color.
Côté peinture, le jeune Patrick Vassort admire les artistes qui maitrisent la couleur, la transparence et la légèreté de la neige, comme Camille Pissarro et Caspar David Friedrich, mais aussi J. M. W. Turner pour sa technique et ses paysages brumeux. Deux peintres contemporains de ses parents vont véritablement marqués et influencés la technique de peinture de Patrick Vassort : Bernard Buffet par sa technique spontanée, instinctive, vitale, sans palette, le tube de peinture à même la toile, et le grand spécialiste de « l’Outrenoir », Pierre Soulages, pour le relief de ses toiles monochromes, que Patrick Vassort transpose à la couleur.
Since the 1970s, Patrick Vassort has continuously been commissioned by major private collectors (paintings, sculptures, jewelry, design…). His artworks are located mainly between Paris, Manhattan, the Hamptons, London, and various mansions across France. Patrick Vassort first exposed his artwork to the public in 2023, through a dedicated exhibition in the Soufflot Gallery of the Sorbonne University.
Depuis les années 70, Patrick Vassort n'a cessé d’être commissionné par de grands collectionneurs privés (peintures, sculptures, joaillerie, design…). Ses œuvres sont répartis principalement entre Paris, Londres, Manhattan, les Hamptons, et de grandes demeures françaises. Patrick Vassort a rendu une partie de son œuvre publique à partir de 2023, en démarrant par une exposition dédiée au sein de la Galerie Soufflot de l’Université Panthéon - Sorbonne.
Beyond art, Patrick is an authentic lover and admirer of nature: its grandeur, beauty, and ingenuity. His imagination has been nourished by the beauty of the landscapes he explored in the four corners of the world: through the land as a jeweler, by air as a helicopter and plane pilot, by sea on his sailboat and over the mountains when paragliding or skiing off-piste.
Patrick Vassort, an incredible mix of depth and lightness, softness and complexity, a being in perpetual movement driven by his boundless imagination.
Au-delà de l’art, Patrick est un authentique amoureux et admirateur de la nature : sa grandeur, sa beauté, son ingéniosité. Son imagination s’est nourrie de la beauté des paysages qu'il a explorés aux quatre coins du monde par la terre en tant que joaillier, par les airs en tant que pilote d’avion et d’hélicoptère, par la mer dans son voilier et par-delà les montagnes en parapente ou hors-piste.
Patrick Vassort, un mélange de profondeur et de légèreté, de douceur et de complexité, un être en mouvement perpétuel, ayant pour moteur son imagination sans borne.
